I had used A-Homart Moving for a previous move and was very pleased with the warmth and efficiency of the company so I used them again for my last move.
This was a HUGE MISTAKE! Once the movers had left and I went in to start unpacking I discovered scratches on my new desk, scratches on my antique sewing machine cabinet, my hope chest is now missing the 2 rear feet and slants backwards as well as chunks of wood missing from the bottom edges on the front, there are finger holes and 2 other holes punched through the backing paper on a large, precious picture of mine. Now this one boggles my mind...there are holes punched into the bottoms of my 2 new (to me) love seats! And, the topper is that my vintage leather rocker recliner has scratches in the leather.
I called, several times, to speak with the owner of the company, Edward, who was in charge of my move. He was extremely rude and hung up on me after flatly denying any responsibility for these damages saying they were obviously done after they left!
They are a bonded, insured company so they have the responsibility of making restitution and/or repairs to my damaged property. All I want is for my items to be restored to their pre-move condition.
I asked Edward for the name of his Bonding Agent and he hung up on me again.
So, I will be taking him to Small Claims Court and seek justice there. I have taken many photos of the damage and am keeping a log of our conversations to produce as evidence.
If anyone out there knows the name of their Bonding Agent please let me know so I can contact them and try to have their bonding removed so as to discourage their future business.
Thanks.
